About The Little Glass Kiln

My name is Victoria, and I'm the person behind The Little Glass Kiln, working from my little home studio in the market town of Brighouse, on the edge of the Yorkshire Pennines. I've been fusing glass for several years now, and I love creating attractive, yet functional pieces for the home. Following a 12 month break to pursue other interests, the Little Glass Kiln is now back up and running with efffect from May 2012. With my new (little glass) kiln and lots of fresh ideas, I can't wait to get started!

Before taking a break in 2011, I was best known for my handcraftted ReBottled!™ range of melted flat, recycled bottle clocks (I was asked to make these for several breweries, including Theakstons and Shepherd Neame, and they were availlable in their visitor centres and online). My bottle clocks are making a welcome return to my online store along with a range of dishes and platters made from recycled bottles.

My latest project is a relatively new concept in fused glass - photo fusing. This involves laser printing images onto a special film which is applied to the glass and fused in a kiln. The film burns away, leaving the original image permanently fused to the glass ( the original colours in the image change to a beautiful vintage sepia tone in the kiln, created by the iron oxide in the laser toner). This technique allows me to transfer a customer's own photo, drawing, quote etc. onto a a fused glass coaster to create a unique gift.
